Meet the Mavens



Joni Holeman is President of Affirmation Training Inc., teaching operations and supply chain best practices along with human potential principles.  Joni has over 25 years of planning, materials management, and manufacturing experience in businesses ranging from custom lighting (ETO), value engineering, electronics (MTO & ATO), and remanufacturing (MTS).  Each point along her career path prepared her for the concepts she now instructs.

Joni's passions include Pugs, training with a humorous twist, volunteering on church projects and promoting Strategic Planning as a life skill for grownups.  Joni teaches the entire Principles program, Parts 1 and 2 of CPIM, CSCP and CLTD. Within APICS’ Workshops family she specializes in CFSCM, Inventory Control, Intro to ERP and Lean Enterprise. She is an IDP Master for the Instructor Development modules of Train-the-Trainer and Learning Dynamics for Instructors, and co-teaches the Applied Instructor Skills module with Maryanne Ross.

An obsessive compulsive volunteer since 1991, Joni is a past President of the DC Metro APICS chapter. She then served for 19 years as their VP of Education. An avid believer in volunteer development, she coaches nonprofits on how to successfully sell their invisible services.  Joni writes online and instructor-led curriculum, develops interactive workshops and is a frequent conference speaker.

She has trained thousands of participants working for companies such as ExxonMobil, Northrup Grumman, Johnson & Johnson, Micron, DuPont, GE and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.


Maryanne Ross, CPIM-F, CIRM, CSCP-F, CLTD-F

Maryanne has been active in adult education for over 25 years, starting her own training company in October 2001.  She is recognized through the APICS Instructor Development Program as a Master Instructor for CPIM and CSCP and a Lead Instructor for Lean Enterprise, Global Sourcing and the Principles Courses. She is also recognized as a Master Instructor of new instructors for all three of the APICS Instructor Training Programs.

Maryanne has 18 years of experience in a variety of manufacturing, purchasing and logistics positions, including automotive, medical, consumer goods, electronic and food industries.

Maryanne has been an APICS member for over 25 years. She has developed interactive exercises to enhance the entire suite of APICS CSCP and CPIM review courses, and has served as a subject matter expert on the APICS CPIM, CSCP, and Principles content development committees. She has also been instrumental in creating activities and enhancements for the CPIM, Principles and Lean programs. Her passion is stimulating the learning experience for adult learners by creating hands on exercises that engage all learning styles. She is often engaged to deliver 5S and Lean training for Fortune 500 organizations, utilizing their internally developed curriculums, working in union and non-union environments

She has trained several thousand participants around the world, working for clients such as Astra Zeneca, Exxon Mobil, AOL, Merck, DuPont, Volvo, Northrop Grumman, Hollister, GE, Fairchild Controls, The Hershey Company, JLG, Manitowoc Crane Group, Wabtec, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Yu-Cheng Chien, Associate Maven

Yu-Cheng has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience in automotive and telecommunications, with special expertise in global sourcing. Mr. Chien holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering plus an MBA from Strayer University, with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. Post graduate studies include certificates within the APICS Risk Management and MWCC's Lean Facilitator programs.

He travels extensively to the Far East, visiting more than 25 vendors per year. Yu-Cheng was a featured speaker at APICS’ Shanghai conference in April 2015. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Taiwanese. Yu-Cheng was instrumental in chartering the student chapter at the University of Maryland’s R.H. Smith Graduate School in 2014, growing its membership to the fourth-largest ASC within the Mid-Atlantic District of APICS.

Hugues G. Hénault

Hugues G. Hénault is currently the owner of H.G.H Entreprises a consulting firm in business process improvement, project management and operations management. Before starting his own consulting firm in mid-2013, he was National Process Manager— Conversion at Belron Canada. His role was to understand Belron’s customer journey and find ways to simplify it. For ten years he worked in different business units at Bell Canada. In 2008, he has been approached to take the responsibility to build the Telecom Supply Chain Management process for the 2010 Olympics games in Vancouver as Associate Director Olympic Logistics. From 2007 to mid-2008 he’s been Associate Director — Long-term forecasting and from 2006 to 2007, he’s been Senior Advisor Process Improvements — Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with the One & Done team. In 2005 he took the role of associate director IP Factory and from 2003 to 2005, he has been Senior Advisor — Supply Chain Process and System delivery. From 2000 to 2003, he has been a project manager within the Supply Chain Reengineering district.

He obtains his bachelor's degree from l’École Polytechnique de Montréal, in June 1997, with specialization in Industrial Engineering. He is hired by Connectware Solutions—a barcode system integration firm—as a business process analyst and he is responsible for developing presale solutions. He develops expertise and an interest for the integration and the development of software and databases. As a consultant, he facilitates sales and carries out mandates for this firm, in Europe, in the US as well as in Canada. In January 2000, he became a member of the OPI-ARC project team at Alcan as a functional analyst: his responsibilities consist in the analysis of business processes related to the system integration of Oracle—GEMMS. In August of the same year, he is recruited by Bell Canada to fulfill a position of project manager within their new Supply Chain Reengineering team. During his year with Bell he develops expertise in process reengineering and became one of the first six sigma Bell’s black belt.

After his bachelor's degree, Mr. Hénault never stopped to perfect his knowledge. He starts in 2000 a master’s degree program in Engineering Management from Université de Sherbrooke which he completed in 2007. In parallel, in 2002, he obtains a CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification from the APICS international organization and sits as the president of the Montréal chapter. Furthermore, in spring 2002, he follows learning dynamics for instructor training from APICS which qualifies him to be a certified instructor for APICS. In 2017, he went to get his certification as SCOR Professional to add the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) to his offering. He currently teaches CPIM and SCOR-P certification and build custom training for his customers such as Operations Management 101 and S&OP.

He is a registered member of l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. He is a member of the Business Architect Guild, and school board president for l’école Christ-Roi.
